TX Food Truck License Guide is an independent guide run by Clearline Labs. We are not the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) or any government agency, and we can't issue, speed up or guarantee a license. We are not an insurance agent or agency: we don't sell, solicit or negotiate insurance or give coverage advice. If we link to or refer you to a business, we may be paid a flat referral fee that does not depend on whether you buy anything.

Type I, II and III: which Texas MFV license type are you?

The law sets three risk-based classes: Type I for prepackaged or low-risk food, Type II for food that needs limited handling and preparation, and Type III for vendors who prepare, cook, hold and serve food from the vehicle (HSC 437B.151). Your type sets your fees and your inspection schedule.

TypeWhat it covers (DSHS)DSHS examples
